Identity Theft & Passwords:
Protect Your User ID and Password. NEVER SHARE YOUR LANDMARK BANK USER ID AND PASSWORD WITH ANYONE. Landmark Bank’s Customer Service Representatives will NEVER ask you for your Password. If you suspect that someone else may have or use your Password, CHANGE THE PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and Contact Us.
- Never write down your User ID and Password – or any other Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) or passwords. Select a password or PIN that is easy to remember but DO NOT use a commonly known set of numbers such as your birthday or address.
- Never provide your User ID or Password to anyone or any company via e-mail. This includes e-mails that appear to be sent by your financial institution. E-mail scams, such as the “Phishing” scam, entice you to click a link from an e-mail and enter your username and password into a fraudulent or “spoofed” website that appears to be your financial institution’s website. - Never use the same password for multiple websites. If another website does not safeguard your password and the password is the same as your Landmark Bank Password, a criminal is halfway toward accessing your account information.
- Never provide any personal, bank account or credit card information to anyone who contacts you through a telephone solicitation.
- Be careful at Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) and when using phone cards. “Shoulder surfers” can get your PIN number and possibly gain access to your account.

When you receive an e-mail, do NOT click on any link included in the e-mail. Instead, type in the web address. Criminals can send an e-mail that looks similar to an e-mail from a trusted company that includes a link that appears to take you to the trusted company’s site. In reality, it could be a link to a site designed to capture your password or otherwise defraud you and the trusted company. NEVER click a link from an e-mail and enter your Landmark Bank User ID and Password. Always type in the www.landmarkbankonline.com address and click the Login button.
Whenever you enter any kind of personal or sensitive information onto any website (including User ID, Password and Credit Card number), ensure that the website encrypts information that you send and receive while connected to the website. You are ALWAYS connected to a secure website when you log into your Landmark Bank online account relationship. There are two simple ways to determine a website is encrypting information:
- There will be a “lock” icon at the bottom left or bottom right of your browser.
- Go to the “Address” field typically at the top of your browser and look to see if the website URL begins with “https” instead of “http.”
